Successful installation of iAtkos v7 on Dell Vostro 1510

Before I begin, I would like to remind the viewers that installing Mac operating system on non-apple machines is illegal.

Recently I installed iATKOS v7 on Dell Vostro 1510 and everything is working fine out of the box. Previously I installed Mac OSx with XxX 10.5.6 Leo Install Disc Rev1 but that was not a very nice experience.

It ran with the following problems --

  • Sound was not working but after a little googling I could get the sound without automatic switching between internal and external speakers.
  • Though I could get the sound but still mic was not working and I search a lot on internet but no result.
  • I get kernel panic frequently. This was the worst of all the problems.

iATKOS v7 was a great experience because it doesn't asks you to put a lot of information and most of the things works out of the box. For those who have the same machine like mine I am explaining below how to get it installed well on your machine.

Firstly, I want to tell you my machine's configuration.

  • Dell Vostro 1510 NSeries.
  • Core 2 Duo 1.8 MHz
  • 3 GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM
  • 250 GB HDD
  • Integrated High Definition Audio (ALC 268)
  • Integrated Web Cam 1.3 MP

Now what you require is an iATKOS v7 DVD. Which is available on internet and I hope you know where to get it. And if you don't know then google it. If you have its .iso file than you have to burn it on DVD. For burning you can use MagicISO or similar software.

Boot your machine with iATKOS DVD and start installation.

Select partition for installation. Make sure that your partition is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). If its  not so, choose Disk Utilities form the menu bar and format the partition.

I would recommend you to go for customized installation and while customizing choose the following options in addition to the default ones.

  • Vanilla Kernel
  • Apple Decrypter
  • SATA AHCI
  • Laptop Battery
  • Voodoo HDA Drivers
  • Intel SpeedStep
  • Voodoo drivers for PS2 with Touchpad
  • Post Installation Script

Now complete the installation and everything should work fine out of the box except the mic.

But no need to worry about it we are going to fix it now. For this you need this patch by Thireus. You can go to this link and download VoodooHDA_By_Thireus.zip. Extract it and you'll find four folders. No need to get confused just open the first one and install the VoodooHDA.kext using Kext Helper.

Now your mic should be working.

Look out for other Mac compatible Models Please

Hi Delhi Geeks,

I am so ecxited about Mac operational in Dell, please can you widen your experimental journey in other models too.

Hey laban , I am doing some

Hey laban ,

I am doing some more experiments on other models also. Because  I am  a web developer by profession I hardly get enough time to do experiments. But I am trying my best to install Snow Leopard on some other models of DELL as well as other brands. You can tell me your model so that I might help you.
